What do we do?
IslandWISE is a program designed to bring STEM activities to young girls and women across all of Cape Breton Island. We strive to provide a diversity of events and reach as many communities as possible. We promote early education of young women in STEM through IslandWISE Retreats and GirlSTEM Saturdays; we provide accessible and exemplar role models and mentors in informal and formal settings; and we also provide the opportunity for fun and exciting hands-on learning (IslandWISE Day Camps). Mission & Vision
We promote Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) to girls and young women by providing hands-on learning opportunities, facilitating interactions between young women and role models, and empowering and inspiring young women to pursue careers in STEM fields through fun outreach events.
